Sasol Secunda equips aspiring young entrepreneurs
On Friday, 21 June 2013, Sasol Secunda formally launched the Sasol Business Network Summit in Mpumalanga. The business summit provides a platform for aspiring young entrepreneurs to engage and network with business owners currently supported through Sasol Siyakha, Sasol’s supplier development vehicle.
Sasol Siyakha was created to develop black-owned enterprises. Currently Sasol Siyakha supports 58 businesses with a combined turnover of R920 million per annum and a combined workforce of over 4200 employees.
“We are excited about bringing together aspiring entrepreneurs with experienced business owners where valuable advice and insight can be shared. It is an opportunity for the youth in Mpumalanga to learn what they need to start their own businesses. Our hope is to stimulate sustainable businesses to contribute to economic growth,” said Maureen Mboshane, Sasol Secunda Public Affairs General Manager.
Aimed at entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35, the Sasol Business Network Summit allows established enterprises to share their experiences in starting their own businesses, the challenges they faced and the skills they gained from their experience.
“As part of the youth, I was grateful to be part of the Sasol business network summit because we benefited from the extensive knowledge shared with us, and we are now inspired and motivated to pursue our entrepreneurial goals”, said Tsepo Mabusa, Director of TITCOMS Information Technology.
Sasol also partnered with the National Youth Development Association (NYDA) and the Small Business Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) to share information on funding and further entrepreneur development training.
