Johannesburg, South Africa – Sasol employees have collected more than R100 000 to support relief efforts in Mozambique following the devastation left by Cyclone Idai and later Cyclone Kenneth. This morning, Sasol Executive Vice President: Human Resources and Corporate Affairs, Charlotte Mokoena donated the funds to charity organisation, Gift of the Givers. The donation was received by its founder, Dr Imtiaz Ismail Sooliman.

“We are truly grateful for the stellar work that aid organisations such as Gift of the Givers are doing to restore some form of normality to the lives of thousands of people in Mozambique who have been severely affected by the floods,” said Mokoena.

“We are also particularly proud of our employees who contributed generously to aid relief efforts in Mozambique, both with cash and through in-kind donations. We hope their contribution will bring some relief to families affected by this terrible event,” she added.

Established in 1992, Gift of the Givers is the largest disaster response agency of African origin on the African continent. It has delivered in excess of R2-billion of aid to millions of people in 42 countries, including South Africa, over its 27 year history.

The aid organisation also implements projects in 21 different categories. These include bursaries, agricultural self-sustainability, water provision, establishment of primary health care clinics and medical support to hospitals, and feeding schemes and food parcel distribution.
