The share price has appreciated almost five-fold from $10.90 on the day of the listing on 9 April 2003 to $52.20 as of April 7, 2008. Sasol's North American shareholder base was 17% before the listing and now represents about 26% of its total shareholding. The group's foreign shareholding is almost 40%.

North American investors are an important source of support for the Company. Average daily trading volumes of Sasol shares on the NYSE have grown from 34,000 American Depository Receipts (ADRs) per day at the time of the listing to 730,000 ADRs per day now.

 

Sasol is advancing its strategy and delivered on a number of its key operational objectives since listing on the NYSE in April 2003. Specifically, the group is expanding its CTL and GTL business, growing its chemicals business based on its technology or feedstock advantages, and developing upstream opportunities.
