He has also been appointed as chairman of Sasol Oil and, as such, he will continue to play a leading role in the SA oil industry. Maurice will be responsible for global corporate affairs, global government relations, and the group black economic empowerment (BEE) strategy. Accordingly, Radebe will guide the group's transformational agenda and take responsibility for Chemcity and Siyakha enterprise development units.
"As a member of the Sasol Group Executive Committee, Radebe will play an important role in shaping the group's overall strategy," said Pat Davies, chief executive of Sasol Limited.
Mr Alan Cameron, current MD at Sasol Solvents, will replace Radebe as MD at Sasol Oil. Mr Joe Makhoere, currently running Merisol, based in the UK, will be promoted to MD of Sasol Solvents.
Other transformational changes at management level in Sasol include the promotion of Ms Wrenelle Stander to MD of Sasol Gas, effective 1 October 2010. Mr Musa Zwane, current MD of Sasol Gas, will head up a newly formed subsidiary, Sasol Electricity, which will house Sasol's new electricity generation capacity and will be responsible for furthering our aspirations in this regard.
"These appointments reaffirm Sasol's commitment to drive transformation. We have a great depth of talent within the organisation and the promotion of these strong leaders sets the stage for their continued contribution, not only to the company but also to the various industries within which they operate," said Davies.
